BECOMING A PCA


We specialize in matching our students with clients that will help them gain hands on experience in fields like:

  • Rehabilitation Therapies (occupational therapy and physical therapy, special education)
  • Clinical Practices (doctor, nurse, and physician assistant)
  • Therapy Practices (school psychologist, child psychologist, therapist).

The roles of our PCA are classified by Physical care clients & Behavioral/ Mental Health clients. We carefully consider your desired career path before matching you with a client that will help give you the edge you need for your field.


Below are just a couple examples of roles for PCA with Student Experience:

Client with Autism

This client needs someone to assist with different types of Occupational Therapies. Verbal cueing or hands on assistance for dressing, grooming, and bathing. The PCA will also be taking the client out into the community for integration and social skills.

*Great for Psychology, Social Work, Education, and Occupational Therapy career interest

Client with Multiple Sclerosis

This client needs assistance with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs). The PCA will be responsible for bed baths, emptying of the catheter, Range of Motion, Pressure Points, dressing, meal preparation, and positioning. The PCA will use a Hoyer lift when moving the client.

*Great for Nursing, Physicians Assistant, Medical School and Physical Therapy career interest

Client with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Oppositional Defiance Disorder

This client is looking for a PCA to be their mentor and assist with redirection of behaviors, setting rules and guidelines and monitoring their safety. The client will also receive mental support from the PCA.

*Great for Psychology, Social Work and Education career interest

Client with Cerebral Palsy

This client needs assistance with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs). The PCA will assist the client with doctor appointments and different Physical Therapy exercises. The PCA will be responsible for transferring the client using a Hoyer lift, bathing, toileting, meal preparation, assistance with medication, and monitoring of seizures.

Client with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder

This client is looking for someone to assist them with making wise choices, especially age appropriate ones. Verbal cueing or hands on assistance for dressing, grooming, and bathing. The PCA will help keep the client focused with after-school activities, integrate the child into the community, and redirect any negative behaviors.

Student Experience is hiring Full & Part Time Registered Nurses to work as a RN Care Supervisor for clients living at home with behavioral and physical needs. The position involves providing training, supervision, guidance and mentoring to college students working as Personal Care Assistants (PCAs) while maintaining care in client’s homes.
