Sunny terraces around your Student Experience location

Sunny days are rare in the Netherlands. For that reason, Dutch people rush to a terrace when they see the first rays of the sun. Looking for the best place to go around your Student Experience location in Amsterdam? We’re happy to help! These are our favourite terraces. What are you waiting for? Put on your sunglasses and enjoy an afternoon in the sun!

Around Student Experience Amsterdam NDSM

Noorderlicht café

At one of the most beautiful places in Amsterdam, you can enjoy a healthy lunch or dinner. Noorderlicht café is open from 11:00 daily. This sunny terrace offers great views over the water. On the menu you’ll find locally brewed beers, homemade soft drinks, cocktails and Dutch wines. In summer they offer cultural and musical entertainment that’s almost always free.

Sammie Sangria

You might’ve already seen the Veronica ship in the harbor of Amsterdam North. This ship is transformed into Sammie Sangria in the summer months. Bring your date here to make a great impression! Enjoy large pitchers of sangria together in the sun, snacks to share, and a beautiful view. Settle down on the terrace on Friday from 14:00 and Saturday and Sunday from noon. Make sure to check in advance if the ship is open.

This restaurant resides in a large container next to the water. In summer this is the place to be to sit on the terrace or in the beanbags by the water. The cuisine puts vegetable center stage to contribute to a better world with the lowest possible footprint. Visit Pllek on Friday and Saturday from 09:30 to 03:00 and Sunday to Thursday from 09:30 to 00:00.

Around Student Experience Amsterdam Zuidas

Between the RAI and the Beatrixpark is where you’ll find city oasis Strandzuid. This is an excellent place for a Friday afternoon drink with your colleagues or project group. This year the terrace is expanded with a floating terrace. Want to relax with your feet in the sand? Then settle down on the sandy beach! Close your eyes to imagine yourself in Spain.

De Veranda

End a long walk through the Amsterdamse Bos with a refreshing drink on the terrace at De Veranda. Completely relax on this sunny terrace on the water with a view over the forest. The Veranda is open daily from 9:00 and on weekends from 11:00.

Happy Italy

A small walk from the Zuidas location brings you to Happy Italy. On the menu you can find affordable pastas and pizza - the portions are huge! You can easily share them together and the staff won’t be surprised if you ask for an empty plate to share. That way you leave space in your belly for a nice dessert such as tiramisu or a sweet Oreo pizza.

Around Student Experience Amsterdam Minervahaven

TonTonClub Westergas

TonTonClub Westergas is a sunny playground for adults with its large terrace and the plethora of board games and arcade games such as air hockey, racing or shooting. Are you done playing? Then cool down with a boozed-up milkshake such as a Strawberry Oreo milkshake with gin or a Choco Loco cocktail with Baileys. Too crazy for your taste? Then you’ll be happy to know that they also serve local beers. You'll find Japanese-inspired dishes such as dumplings, yakitori, and ramen on the menu. And the best part is, they are open seven days a week!

Brouwerij Troost Westergas

Do you like beer? Then BrouwerijTroost Westergas is the place for you! They brew their own beers here such as Pilsner, Weizen, I.P.A., and Amber. Going zero percent? They have tasty lemonades too. The menu at Brouwerij Troost is meat-free. This makes the food not only tasty but also sustainable. Try it out!

At Anne&Max you do not only get delicious coffee in the sun, they also have a quiet room where you can study in peace. This space is intended for hard workers that like to drink good coffee, but are looking for a peaceful and quiet place outside the home. Had a few too many the night before? Their extensive anti-hangover brunch will pick you right up.

Around Student Experience Amsterdam Amstel

When I eat at l'Osteria, I'm always surprised by how tasty and large the pizzas are. You can eat your pizza on the terrace or in the restaurant, but it's even more fun to eat your pizza on the lawn along the Amstel. Bring a blanket and enjoy your pizza while watching the boats passing by. Can't choose between a Rucola or a Vegetariana pizza? Then choose two flavors in 1 pizza box. This way you enjoy it even more!

Bam Boa

Want to enjoy delicious flavors while overlooking the Amstel? Then settle down on the terrace of Bam Boa for a Brunch. Fill the table with delectable dishes and fun is guaranteed. Watching boats pass by on the Amstel river is the cherry on top. The beautiful interior and the beach vibe give you an instant holiday feeling!

Near the Amstel hotel, you’ll find the largest deck terrace on the water in Amsterdam. Settle down on the terrace and watch the boats drift by or moor for a snack or a drink. On Sundays, you can enjoy live music in the evening at Amstelhaven
