Kings Day in Amsterdam: this is the place to be!
Are you ready for King's Day? In just a couple of days (on April 27), the Netherlands will turn orange again because of national celebrations. This national holiday marks the birthday of King Willem Alexander. And there is no better place to celebrate than Amsterdam! There are flea markets everywhere, live music, and many boats on the canals.
Public events
You can find small-scale public parties throughout the city center. These last from noon to 8 p.m. But beware; there is a maximum of 2,000 visitors per event allowed. So when you decide to go later in the day, you may not get in or have to wait a while for people to leave. Outdoor stages can be found at these spots: Marie Heinekenplein, Nieuwmarkt, Leidseplein, Rembrandplein, and Amstelveld.
Festival feelings
Want to party hard? Then check out one of the more prominent festivals. You'll need a ticket for these outdoor festivals. They last until 8 p.m. but sometimes continue inside until the early morning. These are the parties you don't want to miss:
- Kingsland
Kingsland takes place at the RAI and has a great lineup, including Afrojack, Antoon, Lucas & Steve, and Kris Kross Amsterdam.
- Loveland
This outdoor house and techno festival at Meerpark has two music stages (in- and outdoor) and room for 15,000 visitors.
- Orange Blossom
Celebrate Kingsday at a monumental location; the Olympic stadium. Also, they value sustainability here and are even aiming for a Circular Festival 2025.
Hopping the flea markets
Don't care about partying and prefer to hop from flea market to flea market to discover the most incredible (vintage) items? Then get up early to score the best stuff. These places are worth a visit:

- Beethovenstraat: discover the most beautiful brands in Amsterdam Zuid
- Jordaan: enjoy the typical Amsterdam atmosphere in the heart of Amsterdam
