How to be more sustainable while staying at Madrid Pozuelo
At Student Experience, we take sustainability very seriously. In fact, Student Experience Madrid Pozuelo has the maximum energy certification label: A, and we have implemented measures such as rainwater recycling, solar panels to generate energy for the building, electric vehicle charging stations, green roofs, and a diverse selection of local flora to minimize the guests carbon’s footprint. But, hey, we're not just high-fiving ourselves – we need your help, too: you can join our move in making a positive impact on the planet with these eco-friendly practices! Here’s how you can be more sustainable while staying at Madrid Pozuelo:
Efficient waste separation
You can make a positive impact on the planet by properly separating your waste into organic and non-organic waste. Non-organic waste includes items like glass, plastic, metal, and cardboard. Here are examples of waste you might generate and how to classify it.
- Glass: bottles, jars, food containers.
- Plastic: plastic bottles, containers, bags.
- Metal: aluminum cans, metal containers.
- Cardboard: boxes, food packaging (flatten them for easier recycling).
- Organic waste: food scraps, fruit peels.
Throw your waste into the right containers
Throughout the restaurant, you’ll find designated containers for waste separation. However, for proper disposal, visit the recycling and garbage rooms located on floor 0. Follow these guidelines to dispose of your waste responsibly:
- Place organic waste in the designated organic compactor in the garbage room.
- Use specific compactors for glass, cardboard, metal, and plastic in the recycling room.
When placing your cardboard boxes inside their container, please ensure they are opened. Similarly, when adding your plastic items, make sure to place them all inside a bag.
Conscious transportation choices
Madrid Pozuelo's parking lot is equipped with charging stations for electric vehicles. Additionally, in Madrid Pozuelo surroundings, you will find several bus stops. Opting for public transportation is a sustainable choice, and you will make a positive contribution to reducing your carbon footprint. :)
Reduce your energy consumption and save water
Did you know that over 1,000m² of solar panels contribute to meeting the daily energy needs of Student Experience Madrid Pozuelo? Nevertheless, sustainability goes beyond this, and responsible energy-saving practices are essential.
- Opt for energy-efficient appliances when acquiring or utilizing them within the residence.
- Disconnect electronic devices when not in use to avoid unnecessary energy consumption.
Regarding water, we have a rainwater recycling system with a 10m³ capacity. However, it is equally important not to waste this valuable resource. Therefore:
- Avoid leaving the faucet open if you’re not using it.
- Consider limiting your showers to 10 minutes.
Go digital
This does not sound very challenging, right? Fortunately, digitalization has made note-taking and studying more accessible. Numerous tools will help you out. Consider using OneNote, Evernote, Google Keep or Notion. If you prefer writing down your notes, you can explore paperless reusable notebooks, such as MOYU or Rocketbook.
