Tips to get back on track with your studies

After a break or vacation, it can be challenging to get back into your studies. You're out of your routine and your motivation is nowhere to be found. But don't worry, with a few smart strategies you can quickly regain your focus and get back to work!

1. Put your phone away

As tempting as it may be to have your phone nearby to stay reachable and scroll through social media in between, put it away. The farther away, the better. Because not only the use of your phone, but even the presence of it can distract you! So do yourself a favor: place your phone not only out of sight but also out of reach. This way you’ll create the peace and focus you need to study effectively.

2. Maintain a sleep routine

Every adult needs at least 7 hours of sleep. Make sure you meet this amount by taking into account what time you need to get up the next day. It’s not only important to get enough sleep but also to maintain a consistent sleep routine. Going to bed and getting up around the same time every day will reinforce your body's natural sleep-wake rhythm. Once this rhythm improves, you’ll find that you can think more clearly, concentrate better, and thus learn more effectively.

3. Create balance

The expression FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out) is unavoidable these days. During vacations it's all about enjoying yourself, but as soon as studies start again, it's important to make well-considered choices: am I away for too long if I go out on a terrace? Is this party worth my time? Will I meet my deadlines? Evening activities can also impact your sleep and the next morning. Therefore, try to avoid FOMO and find a balance between fun and studying to get the best out of both worlds.

4. Create a schedule

Getting back on track can be difficult. To make it easier for yourself you can create a schedule or timetable. A daily schedule gives you clarity and makes the path to your goals much shorter (and less chaotic). Just remember: be realistic and give yourself enough time for each task. And don't forget to leave enough space for relaxation—recharging your battery is just as important as meeting those deadlines. Also, unexpected things can always happen, so having a flexible attitude is important. This approach will make your goals attainable and keep you motivated.

5. Be consistent

Lastly, be consistent. It is not only important to build good habits but, more importantly to maintain them. Once your daily tasks become a habit, you will naturally establish a routine. Checking your assignments and deadlines every day will prevent you from facing a huge pile of work. You’ll know exactly what to expect and have everything under control, helping you stay on top of your studies and prevent stress.

Small habits make all the difference, so start today and take the first step towards success!
