Ambitious Student – Paloma and the pursuit of balance
In this edition of Ambitious Students, we meet Paloma, a medical student at the University of Granada. Currently preparing her final subjects with the MIR exam on the horizon, Paloma is one of many students today who are fully dedicated to turning their ambitions into reality.
Between textbooks and clinical training, she also finds time to share her journey on social media — proving that with organization and passion, it’s possible to balance different sides of life. In this interview, she shares how she discovered Student Experience, what it has meant to live in a space designed for students, and how she manages to stay grounded during one of the most demanding stages of her education.
How did your journey in medicine begin, and what keeps you motivated in such a demanding field?
My name is Paloma, and I'm a medical student at the University of Granada. Right now, I’m focusing on finishing some final subjects to successfully complete my degree. I’m truly passionate about medicine, and I’m organizing my time so I can close this chapter properly and begin preparing for the MIR with a solid foundation.
How did you discover Student Experience?
I found it through an Instagram ad. Some of my classmates had already told me great things about the study environment, how comfortable it was for focusing during exam prep, and the flexibility it offers, especially for students like us who spend many hours in the library.

What caught your attention the most about the residence?
Mainly the calm, student-oriented atmosphere. It’s more than just a place to sleep; there are study areas, shared spaces to relax or work out, and a great vibe among residents who are in the same situation. Plus, having everything included (cleaning, meals, etc.) allows me to focus 100% on my studies without worrying about day-to-day tasks. Having my studio in the same building as the gym, restaurant, and study rooms saves me a lot of time I used to lose.
How has living here helped you during exam periods?
It’s given me so much stability. During exams, what you value most is an environment that helps you concentrate. Here, I have my own study space, flexible schedules, rest areas, and there are always classmates around to ask questions or just take a break with. That emotional support and sense of community are key.

And what about your work as a content creator? How do you manage that alongside your studies?
The key is planning. I try to schedule my content during less intense academic periods. Living here has helped a lot because everything is so well organized. I can make better use of my time and find the moments I need to keep creating. Of course, during exam season, my studies always come first.
Do you have any advice for students considering living at the residence during key academic periods?
Without a doubt, I’d tell them it’s an investment in peace of mind. Here, you can truly focus on studying and taking care of yourself, which is something we often forget when we’re overwhelmed with exams. The atmosphere is really motivating because you’re surrounded by people who are going through the same thing, and that helps you not feel alone in the process.
