It’s flu season! Here’s how you stay healthy and strong.

Yep… it's that time of year again. Left and right, your friends, peers, and colleagues are coming down with the flu, and suddenly you’re feeling that familiar scratch in the back of your throat. Uh-oh; it might be your turn. The flu always hits at the most inconvenient moment, and all you want is to recover ASAP. So we asked around and gathered our best tips for getting better when the flu finds you.

Stay hydrated

Our #1 tip: stay hydrated. Yes, we say this all the time, but this time, we really mean it. When you have the flu, you lose more fluids through fever, coughing, and congestion. Drinking enough supports your immune system and prevents headaches and fatigue. So fill up that water bottle or make yourself a pot of herbal tea. Add honey, ginger, and lemon, and you've got a nourishing drink that will keep you hydrated.

Eat light, nourishing meals

When you're down with the flu, your body is already working overtime to fight off infection, so give your digestive system a break. Simplesoothing foods will help you recover without draining your energy. Think of warm soup (chicken broth works wonders!), rice with veggies, or a slice of toast with honey. These gentle meals are easy to digest, won't irritate your throat, and give your body exactly what it needs.

Skip intense workouts

Regular exercise is great for your immune system and keeping your body strong, but if you are feeling a bit under the weatherit's okay to skip long gym sessions or intense HIIT workouts. Instead, opt for a walk, a gentle bike ride, or some easy stretches in your studio. This is the time to give your body some rest; not to exhaust it more

Community matters

Being sick while living on your own can feel pretty miserable, and sometimes even lonely. So don’t hesitate to reach out. Maybe a friend or neighbour can cook a double portion and drop off a meal, or you can have a video call with someone (bonus points if they're sick too), and watch a show together while commenting on every plot twist.

Rest as much as you need to

Last but definitely not least: the flu is your body’s way of telling you to slow down. Trying to rush your recovery will only backfire. So cuddle up under a blanket, get ready for a Netflix marathon with plenty of naps in between, and let your body do its thing. Sweat it out, rest, and be gentle with yourself. You’ll feel better before you know it.
