Studio specs

Studios and sizes
The Student Experience Leiden studios have a floor space between 18 m² to 25 m² and include a private kitchen and bathroom. For all floor plans and prices, check the price overview per studio type for Leiden.
Furniture
At this location, you are provided with a fully furnished studio. Everything you need to make it cozy, including a double bed (120x200cm), a table with chairs, a closet, a desk, and curtains. The studio does not include a bed linen set. Not sure what to purchase? We've added everything you need to this IKEA shopping basket.
Kitchen
The kitchen features a countertop, including a sink. You'll find an overhead shelf in studio types 2B, 2C, 2D, 2E, and 2F to store your kitchen utensils. All other studios have cabinets. The kitchen is equipped with a 2-pit ceramic cooking hob and extractor hood, a fridge, a bin, and a combi-microwave. Kitchen utensils, such as pans and plates, are not included. Bathroom
The bathroom is equipped with a shower, sink, and toilet. There is a large mirror above the sink.
Floor
Every studio has a light-colored PVC floor and is easy to clean.
Key card access
The studio comes with a key card for easy and secure access to the complex.
Hanging items on the wall
It is not possible to hang items on the wall. Do you wish to bring a memento from home? Then consider a photo frame you can set down somewhere.
Internet connection
WiFi is provided for your comfort throughout the location premises. You don't need to prepare your own cable and router. 


Conditions

Study conditions
To rent a studio at Student Experience Leiden, you must follow a full-time or part-time study at Leiden University.

Please note: We only accept conditional proof of enrolment for the upcoming academic year (starting in September) from June onwards. If you are not currently enrolled as a student, you are not eligible to apply for our studios (yet).

Long stay location
Student Experience Leiden is a long-stay location. Contracts are offered with a minimum period of one year. You can find the exact start date of the contract in the studio advertisement. After the first 12 months, you can terminate the contract at any point with a notice period of one month.

 

Communicating relocation

Are you relocating to Leiden from abroad?
Schedule an appointment with the municipality to register (this appointment happens in person). It must take place within five working days after moving. Make sure to schedule it in advance by filling in a form via this page. For further questions, please call +31 71 516 51 65.

Registration days
At the beginning of each semester (September and February), Leiden University holds special town hall registration sessions for newly-arriving students. At other times of the year, please make an appointment directly with the town hall. You can find detailed information about this subject on the university’s English-language website.

You must register as a resident at your own address, for example, Lise Meitnerweg + your studio number, 2333 CZ, Leiden. You can use your contract as a burden of proof.
Are you relocating within the Netherlands?
Are you moving to Leiden, or are you moving within Leiden? You can report this from 4 weeks in advance to 5 days after your move. You indicate your change of address here. You must register as a resident at your own address, for example, Lise Meitnerweg + your studio number, 2333 CZ, Leiden. You can use your contract as a burden of proof.

Prices

Pricing structure
The price is based on the government property valuation system. This is a point system that determines the maximum price of a studio.
Studio price

Studio prices in Leiden start at €602 per month, including service costs. The service costs are € 195 per month, including internet, heat, electricity, and water. Furniture costs of €70 per month are included in the service charges.  This also includes 24/7 security and access to facilities such as the lounges, game corner, study room, and more.   

Not included are:  
- Municipal taxes 
- Costs for washing and drying  
- Parking fees 

Other fees:  
- Deposit: € 800 or € 1.100, depending on the studio type. 

This fee must be paid together with the first month's rent in your first transfer.

Housing allowance 
Are you younger than 21?
200 studios at this location are prioritized for students over 18 and under 21. These studios have a rental price below the maximum so you can request housing allowance. You can check this here.  

21 years or older?
You can apply for housing allowance here. 

 

Cancellation policy

Requirements
You have signed a contract to stay at Student Experience, but you changed your mind or cannot move in due to special circumstances. The cancellation policy depends on the situation, you can find more details below. You need a compelling reason to terminate your contract early. Examples of this are: you have been declined from your studies or cannot come to Leiden anymore. To process a request for early termination of your contract, we need proof. Proof is, for example, a rejection letter from your educational institution.
Not signed yet
If you have not yet signed your contract, you can cancel it free of charge.
Signed but want to terminate lease within 12 months
You want to terminate your fixed-term contract earlier than the contract end date. Unfortunately, this is not possible since you have entered into a contract for 12 months. We can only make an exception if you have a compelling reason for this and can provide proof. Upon approval, a one-month (30 days) notice period applies. You pay the costs until the new end date of your contract. Deposit will be refunded in accordance with your contract.
Terminate after 12 months
After the first 12 months of your lease, you can terminate your contract 365 days a year. Through the service portal you can easily terminate the contract, with a one month's notice period. The deposit will be refunded in accordance with your contract.

Facilities at Leiden

Study room

Study without being distracted? The study room is a bright, open space where you can study in peace. Co-Study Sessions are held here as well, so you can focus optimally and have inspiring breaks with brain food, your neighbours and fun activities.

You can also find small study rooms on every floor.

Lounge

There are lounges with cozy sitting areas where you can relax with your neighbours, watch TV or play (online) games.

24/7 duty manager and security

Every day from 6 AM - 10 PM a duty manager is present. During the night, you can rely on the security guard. In addition, security cameras are present at various locations in and around the complex.

Private dining room

Use the private dining room to cook dinner with your friends or family, celebrate your birthday or have a baking competition with your best friend.

You can reserve the private dining room through our reception.

Service portal

As a resident, you'll get access to a service portal and app.

Here, you can:

Game corner

In the game corner you can prove you're the best at table tennis, darts or 8-ball. In addition, it is possible to connect your own game console to the large television screen in the lounge.

Indoor bicycle parking

There is a covered bicycle parking where you can park your bike. 

Laundromat

The Student Experience laundromat is a self-service laundromat where you can use professional washing machines and dryers for a € 3 fee. An ironing board is also available in the laundromat. An iron can be borrowed at the reception.

Courtyard and surroundings

The complex has a lovely courtyard where you can relax or study in the sun on a nice day. You will notice various new facilities in the surrounding area are under development. This means that construction will be taking place temporarily around the complex, we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Vending machine

Care for a snack? There are vending machines present where you can pick up a snack or something to drink.

Parcel service

Have you placed an online order or received a package that does not fit through the letterbox? Packages are securely delivered by a trusted courier daily to MyPup pick-up point lockers, where you can pick them up as soon as you have time.

Medical facilities

Student Experience has partnered up with a general practitioner. That way, you always have easy access to medical care when necessary.

Sustainable living

The cozy courtyard features a green garden with nature inclusive landscape, which stimulates biodiversity. The complex is equipped with solar panels to generate power for your daily needs and has sustainable rainwater drainage.

Cinema room

Enjoy a relaxing movie night or watch an exciting sports game with friends or fellow residents. You can use the beamer to watch your favorite movie or sports game. All you have to do is bring drinks and popcorn!

Printer

You can rent a printer at the TULU smart rental unit near the reception in building 2.
