What to do during the Feria de Granada
The Feria de Granada, also known as Corpus, is one of the most awaited events of the year that marks the beginning of summer. The fair is more than five hundred years old and is one of the most joyful traditions kept by Grenadians, where fun and conviviality are the key ingredients. When and where
The Feria de Granada begins every year at 12 midnight with the "Alumbrado" - the lighting of the thousands of bulbs at the entrance gate - and ends the following Sunday with a fireworks display. This year, the fair will take place from May 25 to June 1 at the recinto ferial de Granada. You can find everything in the complete program of Corpus 2024.
What to do
The Feria de Granada can be enjoyed both during the day and at night. You can enter any of the casetas to dance, drink and eat. You'll see women wearing their Sevillana dresses, enjoy flamenco music all over the city, see people moving on horseback, and, for the more daring, get on many attractions where you'll and scream without limits.
Dancing sevillanas in the casetas
This year, the Feria de Granada will have 68 "casetas" which are small tents all along the fairgrounds where people gather. They are all traditional with flamenco music and decoration, and you will be able to enter all of them free of charge. The best thing to do is to go around and enter as many as you want, because each one has its own charm and atmosphere. Free concerts
At the caseta of Diputación de Granada, there will be plenty of concerts you can attend for free at any of the days of the Feria de Granada. You will be able to see authentic musical groups perform, such as Siempre Así (Saturday 25th), La Tentación (Sunday 26th), Los Yakis (Wednesday 29th), El Pitu (Thursday 30th) or Tamara Jerez (Friday 31st). Riding the swings
You'll find 2 main areas on the fairgrounds; one with the casetas, and one with the swings, which is a little theme park. Normally, the latter is more focused on children, but the truth is that we are never too old to give up the attractions! Of course, mixing beer with the swings is not a good idea. ;)
Enjoy the local food
At the Feria de Granada, tapas contests are organized among the different casetas, so it’s a great opportunity to try as many of the city’s local dishes as you want, for a very cheap price! Among the most common are gazpacho, pinchitos, paella, fried fish and cold meats and cheeses. And don't miss the late-night snacks either; baked potatoes or churros with chocolate, which you will find in small stalls scattered throughout the fairgrounds.
