A real Amsterdam summer equals many, many festivals. There's something to do for everyone, from intimate live music gatherings to large electronic music festivals.
Food festivals
This is a call for all food lovers! Attending a food festival is not only delicious, but the vibes are amazing too! At Trek Festival (July 5 – July 7) you can enjoy dishes from a variety of food trucks while sipping on wine from all around the world. Another fun festival is De Parade (August 16 – September 1). This festival travels around the country visiting different cities with music, food, theatre, dance, and their infamous swing carousel.

The electronic music scene is big in the Netherlands, with multiple festivals around the country during the spring and summer months. Looking for something close to Amsterdam? Art & culture
Tucked away on the outskirts of Amsterdam, you’ll find Ruigoord, Amsterdam’s cultural haven where artists, poets, and other creatives come together to create. Visit this unique space this summer during one of the many events, like creative workshops, tours, walks, and festivals.
Pride week events
The last week of July is dedicated to Pride week. During this colorful week, multiple parties and events take place around the city to celebrate love in all shapes and forms.

Outdoors & relaxation
Not so much of a partygoer, or just feel like doing something else? There are plenty of opportunities to relax in Amsterdam's nature. :)
Parks & forests
With over 30 parks around the city, you can visit another park every week during summer! So, break your routine and visit a new park next time you go sunbathing or picnicking with your friends! Are you planning a BBQ? Check Amsterdam's BBQ map to see where this is permitted. Feel like taking a break from the city? Head over to Het Amsterdamse Bos for walking, cycling, relaxing, or cuddling with goats.

Why limit your workout routine to a gym when you can exercise outdoors? Take advantage of the sunny days by working out on the Student Experience rooftops (check our event calendar for upcoming sports events), join a bootcamp via ClassPass, or try stand-up paddle boarding on the Amstel River or the city’s canals.
Raining?
Yup, even during the ‘good’ Dutch summers, a rainy day is practically a guarantee. Luckily, the Dutch are prepared with plenty of things to do.
