Granada is quite a small city, so getting around is very easy! Because the city is so small and beautiful, walking and cycling are the best options. But, of course, there are other efficient ways to travel around.  

Buses in Granada: the city's main transport system 

Plenty of bus lines take you from one part of the city to another. As a student, you can use the Credibus Unversitario, which is a public transport card you can use on any bus in Granada. Recharges are made in multiples of € 5. One trip costs € 0.31, so with a € 5 voucher, you can travel 16 times. It's the easiest, fastest, and cheapest option.  

Granada metro: a modern way to get around 

Granada's metro is the easiest in the world, and that's no joke. It's a single line that crosses the city from north to south in less than 1 hour, with 26 metro stops along the way. 

Granada train station: Your doorway to Andalusia 

Granada’s train station connects you to major cities across Andalusia and beyond, making it easy to explore the region. Whether you want to visit Seville, Córdoba, or Málaga or even take a high-speed AVE train to Madrid or Barcelona, the railway offers a comfortable and scenic way to travel. With student discounts available, it’s a great option for weekend trips and discovering more of Spain during your studies. 

Walking and cycling: Ideal for short distances 

Our most recommended and practical way to travel through Granada is by bike or foot. It's the perfect way to explore the city and find hidden gems and places that don't appear in any tourist guide. If you'd like to cycle, you have to have your own bicycle since there's no bike rental service available in the city yet.  

How to get a transportation card in Granada. 

The Public Transport Card in Granada is called Credibus. As a student, the most interesting option is the Credibus Universitario, which is valid for 5 years on all Granada city bus lines. You can apply for it at your faculty secretary's office.  

The requirements to apply for the Credibus Universitario are:   

• You're under 25 years old  
• You're a university student  
• You're not registered in Granada city.   

You can buy regular tickets at the metro, which are € 1.35, but it is cheaper to buy a voucher. You can do it at the ticket machines at each metro stop.  There are different types:  

• Bono Multiviajes: with this card, you can go wherever you want! You can load the card in multiples of € 5.  
• Bono Menual de 30 días: this is the best pass for students. This personal, non-transferable pass allows you to travel unlimited for 30 days for only € 16. You can request this ticket by emailing Metropolitano Granada or get it at one of the customer service offices by filling out an application form.    
• Bono Turista: If you simply want to use the metro for a sightseeing tour of the city, you can opt for this voucher for 1 full day of unlimited travel for 4.50 €. But beware, the card is non-transferable, and the metro does not reach the historic center and does not cover most of Granada's tourist attractions.
