Repairs
If something in your studio is broken, you will need to submit a repair request before you leave so the duty manager can fix it before your departure.

Step 2 Emptying the studio

Please take all your personal items and belongings with you, leaving the studio in the same condition as it was delivered to you.

You must take the kitchen, bathroom, and linen package with you. The linen package includes towels, guest towels, wash cloths, comforter + cover, and pillow + pillow cases.

Don't want to keep any of this? You can donate your linen package in a textile container at the Spaarndammerstraat 145, other items in the designated container in the recycling room, or make an appointment for picking up bulky waste. Not sure how? Read all about it here

The decorative pillows are part of the studios furnishment and should be left in the studio.

Step 3 Check-out

The latest check out time is 11 AM on the end date of your contract. Of course, you can check out earlier than the last date, but this does not affect the monthly costs.

You have to hand in the keys of the studio at the reception, so that the duty manager knows that you have checked out.

After leaving your studio at Amsterdam Minervahaven, you will need to deregister from the municipality or change your address. Follow the information below that applies to you.

  • I'm moving within Amsterdam. Report your relocation here.

If you pay your rent via direct debit, we will refund (the remainder of) the deposit one month after the end of the contract. We will also stop the direct debit.

If you don't pay your rent via direct debit, make sure to send us your bank details a month before you leave so we can refund (the remainder of) the deposit one month after the end of the contract.

  • What is the cancellation policy?

    Requirements

You have signed a contract to live at Student Experience, but you changed your mind or cannot move in due to special circumstances. The cancellation policy depends on the situation, you can find more details below.

You need a compelling reason to terminate your contract early. Examples of this are: you have been declined from your studies or cannot come to The Netherlands anymore. In order to process a request for early termination of your contract, we need proof. The proof is, for example, a rejection letter from your educational institution.

    > 30 days to contract start date

If you want to terminate your contract > 30 days before the start date of your contract and you have a compelling reason with supporting proof, you may cancel without having to pay the charges included in the first month’s payment (studio fee, deposit, and reservation fee). Please note that the down payment made to reserve your studio is non-refundable.

< 30 days to contract start date

If you want to terminate your contract If your termination request is approved, you will be required to pay the studio fee for the first month and the reservation fee. Your deposit will be refunded within 30 days after the adjusted contract end date. Please note that the down payment made to reserve your studio is non-refundable.

    After your contract start date

You want to terminate your fixed-term contract earlier than the contract end date. Unfortunately, this is not possible since you have entered into a contract with a fixed end date. We can only make an exception if you have a compelling reason for this and can provide proof of this. A compelling reason typically refers to an unforeseen situation beyond the resident’s control.

Upon approval, a one-month (30 days) notice period applies. You pay the costs until the new end date of your contract. The deposit will be refunded in accordance with your contract. Please note that the down payment made to reserve your studio is non-refundable.

  • How can I terminate my contract?

When you stay at Student Experience Amsterdam Minervahaven, you do not have to end your contract. Your contract will end automatically on the end date stated in your contract.

Do you want to terminate your contract before the end date? Please refer to our cancellation policy or see the full terms in your contract.

  • How do I deliver my studio correctly?

Before your leave, you'll need to make sure the studio is clean and tidy. If this is not the case and the studio needs to be cleaned professionally, you'll be charged a cleaning fee or part of your deposit will be withheld.

    Cleaning
It's important to do a thorough cleaning. Not sure what to do or which products to use? In our checklist, we've made that easy for you. :)

    Repairs
If something in your studio is broken, you will need to submit a repair request before you leave so the duty manager can fix it before your departure.

  • What do I need to know about checking out?

    Emptying the studio

    Check-out

The latest check out time is 11 AM on the end date of your contract. Of course, you can check out earlier than the last date, but this does not affect the monthly costs.

You have to hand in the keys of the studio at the reception, so that the duty manager knows that you have checked out.

    Deregistration from the municipality

After leaving your studio at Amsterdam Minervahaven, you will need to deregister from the municipality or change your address. Follow the information below that applies to you.

    • I'm moving within Amsterdam. Report your relocation here.
    • I'm moving to another municipality in the Netherlands. Register with your new municipality.
    • I'm moving to a different country. Deregister from the municipality here.
  • When will I receive my deposit back?

You have paid a deposit for your studio. Before you get it back, we will settle any outstanding costs, such as payment arrears or costs for repairs in the studio.

  • Can I transfer my studio to someone else?

Unfortunately, transferring your studio to a friend or family member is not possible. To ensure fairness for all studio seekers at Student Experience, your studio will be listed on the website for others to apply.

However, you can refer your friends to our website, where they can register and apply for available studios.

  • Can I request a landlord statement?

A landlord statement provides information regarding living and payment behavior in the last two years. A landlord statement can only be provided if you stay with Student Experience for more than 1 year, therefore our Amsterdam Minervahaven location doesn’t provide that.

Is your answer not listed here?

Get in contact with us, the Student Experience team would love to help you. Want to contact the duty manager of your location directly? You can find his number at the reception of your location and in your service portal.
